Hysterosalpingogram (HSG)

Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) is a diagnostic radiological procedure used to determine the normalcy of the uterine cavity and whether the fallopian tubes are open and of normal caliber. The radiologist injects dye into the uterus through the cervix. The dye passes through the uterus and then the tubes, if they are open. An HSG can also reveal information such as the configuration of the uterus (irregular shaped uterus), irregularities (such as, fibroids or polyps).
