National Infertility Awareness Week 2020

National Infertility Awareness Week 2020 (NIAW) begins April 19 – 25, 2020. Currently, 7.3 million Americans are facing infertility. No matter what race, religion, sexuality or economic status you are, infertility doesn’t discriminate. Anyone can be challenged to have a family.

NIAW became a federally recognized health observance by the Department of Health and Human Services in 2010. Throughout NIAW, RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association is leading the effort to unite the millions of Americans who want to remove the stigmas and barriers that stand in the way of building a family of their own.

Living during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated the feeling of powerlessness and loneliness many people experience while dealing with infertility. Most providers are ‘pausing’ treatment temporarily and trying to learn and implement the best practices to keep patients and themselves safe and healthy when care can be resumed. This can seem unfair and frustrating as you watch time ticking by on your family building journey.

We want to empower you by encouraging you to share your story; your story will help others realize they are not alone, to advocate for themselves and to learn about the treatments to help them once we return to a ‘new normal.’

Every Picture Tells a Story. What is Yours?

This year’s NIAW theme focuses on pictures, which is appropriate since the COVID-19 crisis is forcing us to communicate via photographs and virtual meetings.

Starting Monday, April 20th and ending on Friday, April 25th RESOLVE is challenging everyone to share a different photo each day using the hashtags #NIAW2020 #MyInfertilityStory
